The patented PC Pay™ system consists of the secure PC Pay device and interface software. The uses of the PC Pay system are many, however currently the most popular demand for the PC Pay device is to provide a very secure solution to conduct internet commerce and home banking from a personal computer (PC). Other uses for the PC Pay system include positive identification, access control, medical information interface with the smart card version, and many more.

There are many corporate uses of the PC Pay™ device and some of the uses for which Innovonics has sold Developer Kits include the list presented below:

Corporate usage of the PC Pay system can include Corporate Banking from a PC, or Small Office Home Office Banking. Accounting using a corporation's current bank account with comfort that only your corporation can gain access to your account using the secure PC Pay device. Paying vendors with a custom bill pay program that your corporation creates using the PC Pay device to ensure secure access to your corporation debit accounts.

Another interest Innovonics has received from corporations is to use the PC Pay device at a corporation to dispense electronic money to smart cards for use at corporate facilities to make purchases at vending machines, cafeteria, and company store. The smart card could be a time-keeping device, using it to gain access to a facility and even to equipment such as a computer.

Digitally signing a documents is anticipated to become popular in the near future, and the smart card is the best secure place to store the user's private encryption key to sign the document. Additionally, with the PC Pay device an added level of security can be available by requiring a PIN to be entered into the PC Pay device to gain access to the user's very secret private key. The possibilities of signing eMail digitally to ensure access only by the intended recipient is very desirable for corporations. The PC Pay system and your corporation's internal eMail system can provide a very elegant solution to bring smart cards to your corporation for digitally signing documents.

A number of banks are developing systems to use the PC Pay device for positive identification when used with their smart cards. A few banks are developing in-bank branch systems to allow walk-up ATMs that consist of a PC and a PC Pay device with the bank's custom banking software.

Use of the PC Pay™ system at Universities and Colleges is being considered for a variety of purposes including student ID card using a smart card. The Student ID card would also allow students to gain access to facilities on campus and use the card at vending machines and the cafeteria.

Since the PC Pay™ device connects very easily to personal computers the possibilities of custom applications are endless. The interface software is designed to make interfacing your custom graphical user interface (GUI) extremely simple to PC resident applications and web-site applications.
