Internet Shopping at Portland's Best

.

The PC Pay™ device can be used to create a secure transaction terminal for Internet Commerce. The device can read credit, debit, and smart cards. With the new ability to interface the PC Pay device to web-pages via a Microsoft Active-X™ control and a Netscape Plug-in™. Companies can create a store on the Internet and have their Internet Shopping menus and grapics. See below for text links. customers use the PC Pay device to capture credit, debit, and smart card accounts very securely. The captured account and PIN information can be encrypted before it even enters the PC providing for a virus-proof personal computer transaction solution. (Read about security considerations here.)

A possible example of Internet Commerce using the PC Pay device could be a fictitious Internet Store called Portland's Best that sells produce over the Internet and then ships the produce refrigerator overnight to the Internet customers. Please note there are thousands of possible Internet Stores that could setup and utilize the PC Pay™ device as the secure input device and Portland's Best is again only a fictitious store to create an example for the reader.

The Internet Commerce shopper could select produce at Portland's Best with possibly specials being advertise daily and new features of the store's produce display updated in the form of downloading new Active-X controls (Visit Microsoft Active-X!) or Plug-ins (Visit Netscape Plugins!). Maybe Cherries are in season so an Active-X control is presented to advertise Fresh Cherries.

At the completion of shopping at the virtual Portland's Best store, the Internet Commerce Shopper would be presented a total bill and asked what type of payment he/she desires to use to pay for the produce. If payment by smart card is selected, then the Internet Commerce Shopper with a PC Pay device and interface software would then see a PC Pay dialog box presented to them requesting they insert their smart card and the appropriate amount would be debited from their smart card and sent to Portland's Best account.

If a debit card transaction was used to pay for the produce in this example, the encrypted PIN and account information would travel eventually to the Internet Commerce customer's bank to get an authorization to transfer funds to Portland's Best account to pay for the produce in manner similar to a debit card transaction at a merchant today. Innovonics has relationships with companies that are working on end-to-end complete eCommerce solutions. The focus of Innovonics is to bring a very secure input device and interface software to the eCommerce system in the form of the PC Pay® device and interface software.

A credit card transaction to pay for produce at Portland's Best can be done in a manner much like a debit card transaction except the credit card account number as opposed to the "PIN-block" would be encrypted in the PC Pay device before the information is sent to the personal computer and via the Internet for transaction processing.

Please note that Innovonics is interested in promoting the PC Pay secure transaction device and the information presented on this page is only given as a possible example of an Internet Commerce solution using the very secure PC Pay device.
