Online travel reservations will become common in the next few years as consumers check available flights and make reservations from the convenience of their home or office personal computer. Innovonics developed the patented PC Pay® system as an input personal computer peripheral to perform credit card, debit card, and smart card transactions from a PC to perform very secure online transactions at the home and corporate office. The PC Pay device connects very easily between the keyboard and keyboard input of IBM compatible personal computers, and to the Apple Desktop Bus of Macintosh computers.

The PC Pay device has been certified as a home banking terminal by one of the largest Automated Teller Machine (ATM) networks in United States and already has been used to load eCash to a smart card via the Internet. Incorporated into the PC Pay device is very secure encryption commonly used for ATM transactions at banks, and tampering with the device will result in self-destruction of the memory contents that may store confidential data such as encryption keys.

The model PC2000™ device includes a smart card reader/writer. The interface software for IBM compatible personal computers interfaces very easily to Visual C++, Visual Basic, Delphi, and other software development languages via an Object Linking and Embedding (OLE) Automation Server. Innovonics also has introduced a software interface to Microsoft Explorer 3.02 (or higher) internet browser via an ActiveX control, and to Netscape Navigator 4.0 browser via a Plug-in.

The PC Pay system can be integrated into a custom online electronic ticketing system that provides the ability to read credit and debit cards to pay for travel expenses while using the smart card interface to possibly store an electronic ticket in the smart card. The system could even be designed to store the travel itineraryand credit/debit tranactions on the smart card for later retrival and generation of an expense report.

Innovonics is already working with many banks, ATM networks, and system integrators around the world to bring secure transactions to the home and office personal computer. Using familiar card technology consumers will easily adopt to remote transactions including purchasing tickets for travel, and loading a digital travel itinerary into their smart cards. The possibilities of using the PC Pay® system with a personal computer are many including commercial applications such as at passenger check-in counters for passengers using credit/debit/smart cards, positive ID with a smart card, frequent flyer card for all your frequent flyer programs, or to provide internet access control vending machines for travelers.
